Charity Concert on 9th Feb 2019 at Rubaga Miracle Centre

Cooper’s Musical journey started in 1998 when he joined “Anointed in Worship” one of the choirs at his home church Rubaga Miracle Center Cathedral. His big break came in 2002 when he was appointed the new director of the church’s youth choir; Youth Worship Team (YWT).
In 2005, Cooper began to write and record his first album.
In addition to his work with GWAy Cooper has done a number of solo projects featuring some of Uganda’s leading artistes like Naava Grey and Charmant Mushaga plus international recording artist, Anthony Faulkner. see video
On the mentorship note, Besides mentoring most of the members of the group, Cooper has also had the opportunity to mentor many in Uganda’s music industry through platforms such as; NTVs Talent Explosion, a reality show where he was “lead mentor” to all the talent that came on the Tv show before they faced the panel of judges on which he worked with Uganda’s icons such as: Isaiah Katumwa, Bebecool and Jackie Chandilu…
Cooper is also a businessman also venturing into organizing gospel events in Uganda as well; his latest project being 3 shows for internationally renown gospel artiste Don Moen.

By 2008, Cooper & GWAy were famous nationally for pioneering a new sence of fresh and great, gospel music for radio and setting new fashion trends among the few city choirs in Uganda’s budding gospel industry.
Cooper prepared the Group to make its official debut on the Ugandan Gospel music scene and by 2009 their first single ‘Makondere’ went viral all over East Africa dominating the number 1 slot on Christian Radio for many months at a time.
The video for this same song garnered the same level of attention and replays on TV stations in Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda. And was later awarded Best Video Of The Year 2011 at the Olive Awards in Uganda. see video
The success of this album across East Africa propelled Cooper & G-WAy to regional fame opening up the doors to performances around East Africa and they have not looked back since then. Cooper and GWAy have done opening performances for internationally renowned artistes like Donnie McClurkin, Ron Kenoly, Papa San, Shawn Gardner and Don Moen.

What they do!

Cooper and Gway  inspired by the plight of suffering children is currently a goodwill ambassador of Empowerment of Disadvantaged Youth & Children (EDYAC) an NGO that assists children with disabilities.

EDYAC promotes personal wellness and is passionate in its belief that the health of the community and the health of the individual are interrelated. edyac constantly monitors the health care needs of the community by participating in a variety of community events as well making use of our community based volunteers.

Once every year, there are the activities that are carried out as partnerships between Cooper & G-Way with EDYAC:

  • a) Charity concerts to raise funds for the Organization
  • b) Attend medical camps

We have also had follow up events from our partners that were inspired by the concerts we did to this regard, events such as the movie premier “THE ONLY SON”.
