Happy new year to you all! The year of the set free! What comes to your ears when you hear the word “New Year” Well to most people it means “fireworks” others ” partying” others ” resolutions” etc.. As people from all over the world celebrate New Year in different ways, Uganda is the only country famous for ” praying” when it comes to this day. While the likes of New York, London, Sydney and Dubai among other great places to spend the first day of the year. Ugandans flood their churches, stadiums, halls and open fields.
You may think that Ugandans are out of options on how to spend the first year. Actually it is not the case, some Ugandans know how to spend life. Others meet at Sheraton, while others meet at the Kabaka’s Lubiri/ palace in Mengo among other places to be entertained to a number of music artists, comedians. But don’t be fooled that majority of them are like that. That is not the case actually as most Ugandans almost 80% spend their new year in church or praying. Most Ugandans revere the true living God and they show this by spending the day by thanks giving, praising, worshiping, testifying and hearing the word of God.
Some of the popular gatherings this year in 2019 included the 77 DOGS at Rubaga Miracle Center with Pastor Robert Kayanja, Kololo Grounds with Phanero with Apostle Grace Lubega, Namboole stadium with Pastor Sserwanda, Nakivubo stadium with Ps Kiganda, P.5 -Christian Life Church with Pastor Jackson Ssenyoga among others. Elsewhere Archibishop Lwanga prayed and spoke to many chrsitians at the YES center in Nsambya and not forgetting the Archisbishop of Kampala Diocese Cyprian Lwanga Kizito also met together with fellow christians and they prayed and thanked the Almighty for having entered the new year.
